Job description

Overview

At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

KPMG is launching a new national team focused on exploring how artificial intelligence, automation, and other emerging technologies and techniques can transform the future of tax services.

As a Manager within the Tax AI & Emerging Technology Lab, you will contribute to a newly established capability with a broad mandate to explore, experiment, and build. The team has been created to identify new opportunities where technology can transform how tax services are delivered, evaluate frontier technologies, and develop innovative solutions that reimagine how work is executed by both KPMG tax professionals and our clients.

This opportunity offers the chance to help shape a national capability from its earliest stages. Working alongside tax professionals, developers, data specialists, and business leaders, you will design advanced calculation engines, automate complex processes, prototype AI-enabled solutions, and explore technologies that extend beyond today’s ways of working.

Whether developing internal tools, co-creating solutions with clients, or evaluating emerging AI platforms, you will help define how technology can unlock new approaches to delivering tax and advisory services in an increasingly AI-enabled environment.

The ideal candidate combines business, accounting, tax, or financial knowledge with a strong interest in technology, automation, and AI-enabled innovation.

What you will do
  • Design and develop innovative solutions that transform tax compliance, advisory services, and client delivery
  • Prototype, test, and evaluate emerging technologies, AI platforms, and development approaches to identify opportunities across the Tax practice
  • Build advanced calculation engines, automation solutions, and AI-enabled tools that address complex business and tax challenges
  • Partner with Tax professionals to identify opportunities where technology, automation, and AI can improve service delivery and client outcomes
  • Collaborate with developers, data specialists, and business stakeholders to translate ideas into scalable technology solutions
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives, experimentation activities, and innovation projects focused on the future of tax services
  • Facilitate workshops with internal teams and clients to explore AI, automation, and emerging technology opportunities
  • Help shape the direction, operating model, and culture of a newly established national innovation team

What you bring to the role
  • 4+ years of experience spanning technology, data, automation, financial systems, tax technology, consulting, or related fields
  • Education or experience in accounting, finance, tax, technology, computer science, engineering, or a combination of these disciplines
  • Experience developing solutions using technologies such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, C++/C#, Java
  • Experience in leveraging AI within the software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of automation, analytics, data transformation, and digital workflow technologies
  • Proven ability to bridge business and technical perspectives and translate complex requirements into practical solutions
  • Experience working with stakeholders to identify opportunities, test concepts, and deliver technology-enabled outcomes
  • CPA designation or progress toward completion of the CPA program, or a strong interest in tax and continued professional development within the Tax practice is considered an asset
