Job description

Description:Facility Maintenance Technician

Department: Facilities
Reports To: Facilities Manager / Executive Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Status: Part -Time


Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining Logan River Academy's campus, buildings, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, secure, and functional condition. This position performs preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general maintenance duties to support a residential treatment environment for adolescents while ensuring compliance with applicable safety, licensing, and regulatory requirements.


Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuilding Maintenance
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, offices, dormitories, classrooms, and common areas.
  • Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Repair doors, locks, windows, flooring, drywall, ceilings, and cabinetry.
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces as needed.
  • Assemble and install furniture, shelving, fixtures, and equipment.
Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Replace filters, belts, light bulbs, batteries, and other maintenance items.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and inspection records.
Grounds Maintenance
  • Maintain sidewalks, parking lots, fencing, and outdoor recreation areas.
  • Assist with snow removal, ice control, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Perform basic landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, irrigation repairs, and debris removal.
Safety and Compliance
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and report hazards immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, Joint Commission, state licensing, and company safety standards.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and assist with fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Follow all infection control, environmental safety, and workplace safety procedures.
Equipment Maintenance
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and vehicles safely.
  • Coordinate repairs with outside vendors when necessary.
  • Monitor maintenance supplies and notify the Facilities Manager when inventory needs replenishing.
General Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.
  • Participate in after-hours or on-call maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive working relationship with staff, students, and visitors.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects and campus moves.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:QualificationsEducation
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school or vocational training preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, residential treatment, education, or commercial facilities is preferred.

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.

  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and vehicles.
Working Conditions
  • Residential treatment center environment serving adolescents.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, maintenance equipment, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergency maintenance situations.
