Job description

Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Technician to join its San Jose team! The Quality Technician is responsible for executing and coordinating key elements of the Quality Management System, including AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), PPAP documentation, calibration control, and ESD compliance. This role operates with minimal supervision, independently managing routine quality activities while supporting continuous improvement and compliance in an electronics manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to ensure proper inspection and documentation.
  • Manage calibration system, including scheduling, tracking, and ensuring all M&TE is calibrated and compliant.
  • Interface directly with external calibration vendors; review calibration certificates for accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform routine audits of calibrated equipment and address out-of-tolerance or expired conditions.
  • Serve as site ESD Coordinator or co-coordinator, ensuring compliance with ANSI/ESD S20.20.
  • Conduct ESD audits (workstations, grounding systems, environmental checks) and document results.
  • Support internal, customer, and certification audits by providing records and demonstrating process compliance.
  • Maintain ESD program records, support training activities, and drive corrective actions for noncompliance.
  • Independently prepare and review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), including ballooning, data validation, and package completenes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to FAIR discrepancies, calibration issues, or ESD nonconformance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Coordinate PPAP submissions, ensuring all required elements are complete, accurate, and aligned with customer requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in quality, Engineering, or equivalent experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a quality role within electronics manufacturing (PCBA, box build, or cable assemblies preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection, PPAP documentation, calibration systems, and ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD familiarity with IPC standards, experience with ERP/MRP and document control systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • IPC Certified (610, 620, J-STD-001)
