Job description

IVIRMA is seeking a full-time Embryology Lab Assistant to join our growing team in our ASC located in Basking Ridge, NJ. You will be responsible for aiding the Embryology laboratory in administrative areas by performing laboratory clinical verifications, data entries, and administrative duties. Minor technical work includes daily Quality Control, preparing next day patient paperwork, and inventory duties. This position requires flexibility, the willingness to take on multiple tasks and roles, and work with instruction or direction from the laboratory supervisor.

Schedule-- Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays

Responsibilities:

  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for reporting and maintaining records of patient test results - specifically morning quality control of laboratory and patient medical records
  • Study and adhere to the laboratory’s operating manual while becoming familiar with quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed (i.e. daily QC sheets)
  • Participate in laboratory operations and meetings as needed
  • Confirmation of accuracy of clinical charts prior to release for insurance and physician reviews
  • Assist embryology staff with procedures and research projects
  • Shadow the Embryologist to confirm patients’ identity for each laboratory procedure performed
  • Assist embryologists with the decontamination of culture incubators
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicate accurately and concisely

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in one of the sciences - preferred
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook - required
  • Electronic Healthcare Records (EMR) experience – preferred
  • Some knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory policies and procedures related to the lab and the ability to understand and interpret pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately -required
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communications skills, including ability to communicate accurately and concisely with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to multitask
  • Aptitude to work independently and demonstrate good judgment
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment while remaining persistent in overcoming obstacles
  • Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
  • Be able to physically lift heavy equipment and supplies
