Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Description
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Development Engineer for our Lenexa office in the Greater Kansas City Area. You will be responsible for designing electrical circuits and digital systems for next generation avionics test equipment, and radio test equipment.
  • Responsible for the design and development of digital hardware systems that include high performance embedded processors, CPLDs, FPGAs, audio, switching power supplies, ADC, DAC and peripheral products.
  • Will work with designs that incorporate high speed busses such as DDR3/4, PCIe Gen 3/4, USB, and SerDes.
  • Proficient in using ECAD tools such as Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or Altium
  • Proficient with using general test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
  • Design test boards or fixtures to aid in board bring-up and PCBA testing
  • Research and select components to meet electrical engineering design needs
  • Test designed circuits and document the test results
  • Find technical root cause and suggest corrective action for given problems
  • Provide estimates on level of effort for design projects and execute designs to meet development schedules
  • evaluate new options of similar technology. offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments and suggestions in design reviews
  • Documentation of design including schematics, theory of operations and troubleshooting guides

Qualifications
  • BSEE (Master's degree a plus), or equivalent experience;
  • 4+ years of digital hardware design experience
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Experience with designing circuits using DDR3, PCIe, and other high speed busses.
  • Have well rounded knowledge of various types of EDA tools such as schematic capture, PCB layout tools, power and signal integrity simulation, synthesis, place-and-route tools. Cadence tool flow desired;
  • Experienced with avionics, communications and test equipment design preferred;
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required (U.S. Person Status per ITAR Regulations).
