Software Test Automation Engineer - Embedded Systems
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Test Automation Engineer to support embedded software testing activities. This role focuses on ECU-level software testing, test automation, execution, and continuous improvement to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of embedded software components.
The ideal candidate will have experience in embedded software development, software testing, automation frameworks, and scripting using programming languages such as C++ and Python.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze software requirements to support test strategy development and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Design, author, and review detailed ECU-level test cases covering various testing types, including smoke testing, sanity testing, feature regression testing, and stability testing.
  • Configure and integrate test environments, including test management systems, defect tracking systems, automation frameworks, measurement tools, and debugging tools.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain test scripts and automation suites using frameworks and programming languages such as Python and C++.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to provide continuous feedback on software quality.
  • Execute automated tests for engineering and release builds while monitoring test results.
  • Identify, document, analyze, and track defects to support timely resolution.
  • Generate test execution reports, including pass/fail results, execution progress, and test coverage metrics.
  • Analyze test coverage metrics, including requirement coverage, code coverage, and interface coverage, to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform root cause analysis of test failures and determine whether issues are related to the software under test, test environment, or test scripts.
  • Maintain and improve test cases and automation scripts based on changing requirements, design updates, and defect resolutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing coverage and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of IT experience.
  • 4+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience with at least two coding languages or advanced proficiency in one programming language.
  • Experience with embedded software and embedded systems.
  • Strong programming experience with C++ and Python.
  • Experience with software testing and test automation.
  • Experience developing test automation frameworks and implementing test scripts.
  • Experience with ECU-level software testing.
  • Experience with test case design and test management tools such as TestRail and Jama.
  • Experience working with Agile frameworks.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or Software Engineering.
