Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Software Engineer to support an internet-based social media program in Tampa, FL. The ideal candidate will assist in developing tools and applications that enable content creation, translation workflows, approval processes, publication, and audience engagement tracking. This role contributes directly to mission effectiveness by building systems for metrics management, user interaction monitoring, and analytics. Candidates with strong web development and cloud engineering skills will receive additional training on program-specific workflows and tools as needed.

HOW A SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Application Development & Tool Support

  • Assists in coding tools and applications that support content dissemination, translation, approval, and publication processes.

  • Develops capabilities to manage metrics data, user comments, feedback, and social media engagement analytics.

  • Supports testing activities to verify software performance and compliance with functional requirements.

Web & Cloud Engineering

  • Works with developers, data engineers, and data scientists to create web applications for collecting and managing data in support of internet and social media operations.

  • Develops web applications using Ruby on Rails or Django/Python on Linux, deployed in AWS environments using MySQL and Redshift databases.

  • Builds and operates scalable, secure systems on AWS, ensuring reliability and performance.

Software Development Lifecycle Support

  • Participates in Agile project management methodologies across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Collaborates using Confluence, Jira, Slack, and other team tools to manage, track, and coordinate development tasks.

  • Reviews project capabilities to ensure robust, scalable solutions, incorporating new technologies as appropriate.

Data & Automation Support

  • Provides Python-based support for database engineering efforts, including AWS Lambda integration.

  • Helps design and refine tools that improve data ingestion, transformation, reporting, and analytics workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Works closely with technical teams and program stakeholders to ensure software solutions meet mission requirements.

  • Clarifies assumptions, refines requirements, and provides technical recommendations to improve platform effectiveness.

  • Presents findings, progress updates, and technical considerations in clear, actionable written and verbal formats.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field required; additional relevant experience may be substituted for formal education.

  • Experience: 35+ years of relevant software development experience; experience working with cloud-based web applications or data engineering tools is highly desirable.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience with Ruby on Rails or Django/Python

    • Familiarity with Linux-based development

    • Experience with AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift)

    • Knowledge of MySQL or similar relational databases

    • Experience with Agile development methodologies

    • Strong Python skills for automation or backend support

    • Experience building scalable, secure systems in cloud environments

  • Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance preferred; highly qualified candidates eligible to obtain a clearance may also be considered. Candidates accepted into the role may be submitted for upgrade to TS/SCI.

  • Location: Customer Site (Tampa, FL).

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $89,250 - $120,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
