General Position OverviewÂ
 Responsible for the design, development, and testing of embedded software applications, including requirement and design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, deployment and documentation.
Essential Job FunctionsÂ
- Demonstrates SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers.Â
- Collaborate with broader cross-functional engineering team throughout firmware development lifecycle.Â
- Conduct feature analysis, development, debugging, and validation of firmware for various 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers.Â
- Participate in hardware design reviews and collaborate with hardware design engineers on design solutions.Â
- Train technical services and sales staff in the operation of new product introductions.Â
- Ensure documentation of design work is complete and compliant with ISO requirements.Â
- Solve problems and implement change notices using corrective actions and engineering change requests.Â
- Read and follow SoundOff Signal Work Instructions.Â
- Perform job consistently and without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.Â
- Other duties as assigned.Â
Job RequirementsÂ
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or Computer Science. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Â
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in embedded software development.Â
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).Â
- Effective written and oral communication skills; able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.Â
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.Â
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.Â
- Proficiency in C/C++Â
- Development experience with Arm Cortex-M microcontrollers and tool chains, including compilers and debuggers.Â
- Experience with MCU peripherals (e.g. CAN, LIN, USB, I2C, SPI, etc.).Â
- Proficient in software, component, and interface design.Â
- Ability to test/debug firmware issues using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, debuggers, emulators/simulators, and logic analyzers.Â
- Demonstrate knowledge of unit testing and CI/CD pipeline.Â
- RTOS development experience preferred.Â
- Practical AI experience preferred.Â

- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.Â
- Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate, and/or reach throughout an entire shift.Â
- Must be able to handle and work with small parts.Â

- Mostly office environment, occasional light manufacturing environment.Â
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Â
- Low noise level in a temperature-controlled setting.Â
- Some level of domestic and/or international travel may be required.Â
- May work remotely.Â
