Job #: 3037528 Apex Systems is currently hiring for an Embedded Software Engineer with one of our DoD/ Government clients. This will be a ‘6-month contract to hire’ opportunity. You’ll work 5 days onsite each week in Aberdeen, MD Location: Aberdeen, MD
Onsite expectation: 4-5 days onsite per week
Clearance Level: Secret, Ability to be processed for TS/SCI
Contract Rate: $60-75 / Hourly on W2 Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software development within a research, lab, or field test environment - Demonstrated experience developing Software Defined Radio (SDR) solutions and working with RF-enabled systems - Strong programming skills in C and C++, including experience with multithreading, thread synchronization, and asynchronous callbacks - Experience working with embedded systems and hardware, including direct interaction with embedded processors and hardware interfaces - Knowledge of cross-compilation workflows and development in Linux-based environments - Experience supporting or participating in lab-based testing and integration activities in an on-site setting
Day to Day Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and test embedded software solutions supporting Software Defined Radio (SDR) and RF-based capabilities for mission-critical Army programs
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to rapidly prototype, iterate, and deliver innovative solutions in a fast-paced R&D environment
• Translate mission needs and real-world operational challenges into technical requirements and implement effective software-driven solutions
• Develop and optimize C/C++ code for embedded systems, including multithreaded applications, asynchronous processing, and performance tuning
• Integrate software with embedded hardware platforms, working directly with processors, interfaces, and RF components in lab and field environments
• Support system integration, testing, and validation activities, including hands-on troubleshooting and debugging in on-site lab settings
• Contribute to RF signal processing efforts, including implementation and testing of modulation, demodulation, and digital signal workflows
• Utilize Git and modern development practices to manage code, track changes, and support collaborative development efforts
• Participate in rapid experimentation and prototyping efforts, leveraging a flexible, innovation-driven engineering approach with minimal bureaucracy
• Continuously evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies, tools, and techniques to enhance system performance and mission effectivenessApplication of security settings and other commercial best
• Provides coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level technical staff.
