Location: LaVergne, TN

Employment Type: Full-time, onsite M-F 8am-4:30pm

At Coats, we design, build, and support the technologies and machines that keep automotive shops running - keeping people moving and technology turning. Our portfolio includes tire changers, wheel balancers, aligners, lifts, inspection systems, and compressed air solutions, all engineered for safety, durability, and real-world productivity. We are hiring a mid-level Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software that powers our automotive service equipment. You will work on software that interacts directly with machine hardware, sensors, and control systems, collaborating closely with hardware, electrical, and manufacturing teams. This role spans the full software development lifecycle: from requirements analysis and system design to coding, testing, debugging, and ongoing support. You’ll apply established software engineering practices while developing proficiency in more complex systems and problem domains,

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, debug, and test embedded firmware and software for automotive service machines (tire changers, wheel balancers, etc.).
  • Conduct hands-on testing and troubleshooting directly on the machines.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment of new software features.
  • Ensure software meets performance, reliability, and quality standards.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 2 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • C# / .NET / Visual Studio experience.
  • Object-oriented programming and software design knowledge.
  • Git and bug-tracking experience (Atlassian a plus).
  • Embedded systems / firmware development experience.
  • Able to work independently and manage full software lifecycle.
Preferred
  • Android or Linux experience.
  • C / C++ proficiency.
  • .NET MAUI/Xamarin Forms and MVVM design.
  • Customer-facing UI/UX experience.
  • Azure or AWS development experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
