Position Summary

Sealed Air is seeking a driven, team-oriented Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Ayer, Massachusetts. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of packaging equipment, with a primary focus on embedded software, firmware, and industrial control system design throughout the product lifecycle. In this role, you will design, develop, and support software and control systems for both new and existing packaging equipment platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve equipment performance, connectivity, and customer experience. Candidates should be comfortable working in an Agile development environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, communicating with customers, and contributing both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Scope

This position supports the full lifecycle of Sealed Air's protective packaging equipment portfolio, including new equipment development projects, support of legacy equipment, design and support of production test equipment, troubleshooting, problem solving, and cross-functional team support.

Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain software/firmware for industrial control systems, embedded control systems, and test equipment.
  • Develop and maintain software for database connections and data collection solutions.
  • Design and program HMI/GUI interfaces.
  • Maintain revision control on all documentation, drawings, and programs via engineering change notices (ECN) and document control systems.
  • Support manufacturing relating to customer orders, inventory, parts, documentation, equipment commissioning, and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials.
  • Troubleshooting and field support with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain schematic drawings in AutoCAD (on occasion).
  • Create and maintain cable assembly drawings and wire run/point-to-point lists (on occasion).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent on the job experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience with electrical design and project engineering/software development.
  • Proficiency with software development for equipment and services.
  • Experience with C / C++, C#, and Python programming.
  • Experience with IoT technology with a focus on edge devices.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with industrial network protocols such as: Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, CAN Bus, DeviceNet.
  • Knowledge of industrial controls and PLC programming with ladder logic a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working with and providing guidance to peers.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $81,900-$141,335

The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs.
