Job description

Carrico Implement is proud to offer two Partnership in Education programs that assist students interested in pursuing a career in agriculture. Selected students will experience internship opportunities allowing them to combine classroom knowledge with hands-on experience in our service departments as a paid intern.

John Deere Ag Tech Program - Two-year program offered by Southeast Community College or Garden City Community College. Graduates of this program obtain an Associate of Applied Science Degree and John Deere Technician Certification. Full Ride Scholarships include tuition, fees, books, housing, meal plan, required tool set with tool box, summer internship, and guaranteed full-time employment upon graduation • Students are eligible for the company technician incentive plan after one year of completed education. Total value of scholarship in excess of $50,000. Five-year work commitment required.

Local Technical Program - Study pre-approved by dealership. Reimbursement Program consists of a $10,000 total value over a five-year work commitment ($2,000 / year) • Summer internship • Students are eligible for the company technician incentive plan after one year of completed education • Additional John Deere training provided upon hire

Purpose:

Participate in on-the-job training while attending an accredited technical college or university program focused on the fundamentals and key technical concepts to become an effective service technician.

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  2. Adheres to assigned work schedule
  3. Complete all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments including timecards and Work Orders
  4. Become familiar with usage of Service Advisor, PartsAdvisor and CCMS systems
  5. Assist senior technicians as needed
  6. Perform basic service tasks as assigned and other duties as assigned by management
  7. Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat, safe and orderly fashion
  8. Account for all time and material used in performing assigned duties
  9. Develop skills in removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components
  10. May perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection on new equipment
  11. Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
  12. Maintains a high level of personal hygiene and neat appearance
  13. Maintains a high level of customer service, conducting self in a manner befitting the image of the company.
  14. Keeps a positive attitude throughout each day and cooperates with all co-workers, vendors and customers to ensure a productive work environment, working to develop a sense of “team” among all departments
  15. Works with integrity, always upholding company values
  16. Adapts to changes in the work environment.
  17. Communicates improvement processes to management team
  18. Promote and incorporate our core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Value, Improvement, Communication & Knowledge consistently in actions and communication

Requirements:

  1. Maintain minimum required GPA* (based on specific school for requirements)
  2. Interest in learning methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of outdoor power equipment/agricultural equipment
  3. Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, power-trains, air-conditioning, and electrical systems as they apply to machines marketed by the dealership
  4. Ability to read, write, and speak effectively with customers and/or other employees
  5. Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
  6. Willingness to learn and work hard
