How much do embedded cybersecurity jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 23, 2026, the average yearly pay for embedded cybersecurity in the United States is $129,093.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $86,000.00 and $133,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can you make $500,000 a year in cyber security?

While some senior cybersecurity professionals, such as security architects or chief information security officers, can earn $500,000 or more annually, such salaries are typically reserved for those with extensive experience, advanced certifications, and leadership roles. Entry- and mid-level cybersecurity jobs generally offer lower salaries, and reaching this level often requires years of specialized expertise and strategic responsibilities.

Will AI replace embedded programmers?

Embedded cybersecurity professionals design and implement security measures for embedded systems, and while AI can assist with tasks like threat detection and automation, it is unlikely to fully replace embedded programmers. Instead, AI tools are expected to augment their work by handling repetitive tasks and analyzing security vulnerabilities, allowing programmers to focus on complex problem-solving and system design. Continuous learning and expertise in programming languages, hardware, and security protocols remain essential for these roles.

Is embedded systems still a good career in 2026?

Embedded cybersecurity remains a strong career in 2026 due to the increasing integration of connected devices and IoT systems, which require specialized security expertise. Professionals with skills in hardware security, firmware analysis, and knowledge of tools like secure coding and cryptography are in high demand across industries such as automotive, healthcare, and manufacturing.

What is embedded cyber security?

Embedded cybersecurity involves protecting embedded systems—specialized computing devices within larger hardware—by implementing security measures such as secure coding, hardware security modules, and vulnerability assessments. Professionals in this field often work with real-time operating systems, IoT devices, and security standards like ISO/SAE 21434 to ensure system integrity and safety.
