Job description


Position Overview

Apply practical knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic devices and first-hand experience designing electronic circuits or software, as assigned, to any of the Applications Engineering department functions including Technical Support, Demand Creation, Voice of the Engineer, and more. This consists of answering technical questions, writing online technical content, or more that requires general technical competence.

Responsibilities

Must be able to...

  • Demonstrate technical competence/prowess in electrical engineering technology as measured by ability to answer general technical questions of the following nature: part number ambiguities, associated tool compatibility, general suitability for use questions, suppliers we carry, part categorization, cross references, web site navigation, and more from all sources, mediums, and tools
  • Maintain ethical integrity when answering questions such as notifying the customer when speculating on an answer
  • Document technical support incidents per department standards
  • Effectively interact with people, including management and you cultivate goodwill from peers, customers, and suppliers
  • Accept responsibility to author technical content describing electronic devices and associated parts

  • Design electronic & electrical hardware, firmware, software, mechanical components, and combinations thereof

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Minimum of two years' experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge and thorough understanding of electronic assemblies, construction, and testing techniques
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills
  • Experience using EDA and CAD tools
  • Able to perform repetitive hand, wrist and arm motion
  • Able to sit in front of a computer for a minimum of two hours before taking breaks or lunches
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude
  • Generally spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Ability to operate computer workstation hardware and software
  • Ability to use & operate equipment i.e. ladders, soldering iron & various hand tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:

  • Advanced degree in engineering technology
  • Exposure to the electronics distribution industry preferred but not required
