As a Tier 3 Systems Administrator, you will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for resolving complex escalations, leading infrastructure projects, mentoring service desk staff, and helping clients leverage technology to achieve their business goals.


Position Overview

The Tier 3 Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining a variety of client environments while serving as the highest level of escalation for technical issues. This role requires extensive experience with Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, and automation.

Success in this position requires a balance of strong technical expertise, customer service skills, project leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment supporting multiple clients.


  • Serve as the final escalation point for Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams, resolving complex issues involving servers, cloud services, networking, security, and business-critical applications.
  • Advanced technical escalations.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation to reduce recurring issues.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during major outages and high-priority incidents.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud Administration
  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, and Intune.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure-based solutions, including virtual machines, networking, storage, backups, and identity services.
  • Assist clients with cloud migrations, tenant consolidations, and modernization initiatives.
Server & Infrastructure Management
  • Administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related infrastructure services.
  • Maintain virtualized environments using VMware and Hyper-V technologies.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and proactively address performance, capacity, and reliability concerns.
Network & Security Operations
  • Troubleshoot and support firewalls, switches, wireless systems, VPNs, VLANs, and network connectivity issues.
  • Implement and maintain security controls including MFA, endpoint protection, email security, vulnerability management, and conditional access policies.
  • Participate in security incident response, remediation efforts, and client security reviews.
Project Implementation
  • Lead infrastructure projects including server deployments, cloud migrations, network upgrades, cybersecurity initiatives, and disaster recovery implementations.
  • Develop technical plans, coordinate implementation activities, and ensure projects are completed according to scope and timeline.
  • Create and maintain project documentation and knowledge base articles.
MSP Service Delivery
  • Manage work efficiently across multiple client environments while meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain detailed documentation within AutoTask and other internal systems, including accurate time entry, ticket updates, and resolution notes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear updates and recommendations in both technical and non-technical language.
  • Collaborate with account managers, vCIOs, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for technology improvements and standardization.
Leadership & Mentoring
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to service desk technicians and junior engineers.
  • Assist in developing troubleshooting procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

  • Previous MSP experience strongly preferred
