Job description

Overview

We're looking for a Digital Copywriter who lives on the web someone who understands how people navigate, search, and convert online, and writes copy built for that reality. You bring strong SEO fundamentals, a sharp eye for interface and UX copy, and the ability to manage and produce content at a technical level, not just a creative one
.You're also deeply proficient with AI tools. You've built custom workflows, used AI for structured content production, and know how to apply it across the operational, real-world side of content. You can speak to what you've built and why
This is a contract role, not a full-time position, with approximately 2030 hours per week, starting in September 2026.

About Anchour

Anchour is a hard-working creative agency of 35+ people and growing, offering strategy, design, experience, and growth services to businesses in various industries, including consumer goods, hospitality, financial services, healthcare, and professional services. Our partnerships provide strategy, branding, website design, development, copywriting, and full-service digital marketing.

We're here to discover greatness together, bringing big ideas, useful things, and smart growth to brands that do things the right way. We help the good ones win.

Anchour is committed to creating an inclusive employee experience for all. Regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or if you're parenting the next generation of change makers, we believe that we produce our best work when everyone feels free to be their most authentic self.

What You'll Do

As a Copywriter at Anchour, your primary focus is the web: page copy, SEO, interface writing, and the content operations that keep it all running cleanly. You'll collaborate with our Experience team on web builds and digital projects, and cross into email and social when needed.

Web & SEO Copy
  • Write website copy that is clear, structured for search, and built to convert from homepage to product page to deep content
  • Apply on-page SEO best practices with real fluency: keyword integration, heading structure, metadata, internal linking, and content architecture
  • Understand and apply GEO (generative engine optimization) principles as search behavior continues to shift
  • Help clients build and improve E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) across their web presence, through content structure, author attribution, sourcing, and copy that demonstrates real subject matter depth.
  • Write interface and UX copy labels, microcopy, CTAs, error states, onboarding flows that make digital experiences work better for users
  • Audit existing web copy for clarity, consistency, SEO gaps, and alignment with strategic direction
  • Independently manage and update content directly in content management systems like WordPress, Squarespace, and Shopify
Content Operations & AI Workflow
  • Use AI tools with a high level of proficiency: building custom projects, developing reusable workflows, generating structured documents and spreadsheets, and managing content production at scale
  • Bring operational rigor to content work tracking versions, maintaining accuracy, and catching your own errors before they reach review
  • Work inside client brand systems and translate strategic direction into production-ready copy without a long ramp-up
Creative Execution
  • Write conversion-focused copy across digital channels with a clear understanding of objectives and outcomes
  • Absorb brand voice quickly and apply it consistently across formats, clients, and delivery timelines
  • Self-edit rigorously. What leaves your hands should be clean.
Collaboration
  • Sit primarily within the Experience team, working closely with marketers, strategists, designers, and project managers
  • Collaborate with brand and growth teams on work that crosses channels
  • Manage your own workload, communicate proactively on timelines, and deliver without needing to be chased
What We'd Like to See
  • 3+ years of copywriting experience at a creative, digital, or marketing agency. Candidates without agency experience will not be considered.
  • Web-first portfolio. We want to see website copy, landing pages, and SEO-driven content that have delivered measurable results. Show us work that ranks, converts, or solves a real UX problem. Ads and email are fine to include, but they shouldn't lead.
  • Real SEO knowledge. You understand on-page SEO on a technical level, not just conceptually. You've applied it in real projects and can speak to what you did and why.
  • Strong technical proficiency. Your grammar, spelling, and writing mechanics are airtight, and you're equally comfortable working across platforms like a CMS, AI workflows, and spreadsheets.
  • Interface copy experience. You've written microcopy, UX copy, or worked alongside product or UX teams. You understand that every word in an interface serves a purpose.
  • Attention to detail is a genuine skill. You catch errors. You care about consistency and accuracy at every level, and you don't offload that responsibility to AI.
  • Fast and flexible. You produce strong work on short timelines and don't lose quality when the pace picks up.
  • New England-based. This is a hybrid role with set in-office days and occasional in-person collaboration.
Work Style
  • You're a web writer first. You think about structure, search, and user behavior before you think about voice.
  • You're operationally capable. You can handle the production and administrative side of content, not just the creative side.
  • You use AI the way a skilled professional uses any tool to get to better work faster, not to avoid doing the thinking.
  • You catch what others miss. Accuracy and consistency are points of pride.
  • You stay steady when things move fast. Priorities shift in agency life. You communicate clearly and maintain high quality.
  • You take ownership. If a piece of copy is yours, you see it through from first draft to final polish.
  • You take the work seriously. Not yourself.
The Details
  • Engagement: Contract (1099), not full-time employment
  • Hours: Approximately 2030 hours per week
  • Start: September 2026
  • Rate: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience
