Title:  English Language Learner Aide
Qualifications:
**Knowledge of another language is helpful, but NOT required**
1. 2 years of college experience; or
2. A 2-year college degree; or
3. Passed the ParaPro Assessment within 1 year of employment; or
4. One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment experience in a school or other setting in a position that supported student academic instruction; or
5. Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes
6. Experience with Special Education Instruction Preferred  
REPORTS TO: Building Level Administrators/ELL District Coordinator
Job Goal:       
















  • To work with administrators and teachers in assisting students
  • Knowledge of another language is helpful, but NOT required

Expectations:

  • Assignments may vary from day to day depending on student needs
  • Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce English language learning of material or skills under the direct supervision of the teacher
  • Reinforce material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
  • Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student
  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers
  • Monitor student progress
  • Attend conferences/workshops for ELL Professional development
  • Attend district staff meetings with ELL District Coordinator
  • Participate in training programs, as assigned
  • Coordinate and/or administer the WIDA assessment for ELL students
  • Facilitate the completion of ELL documents
  • Facilitate and or translate documents
  • Maintain high standards as a role model, while advocating the skills, mission and objectives of the school and district
  • Promote good citizenship, be understanding and fair, and display a  character of integrity
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Perform other duties as requested by the ELL District Coordinator
  • Other duties assigned by the principal

Compensation:

  • Starting base rate: $14.05/hour
  • 6.5 hours daily/32.5 hours weekly
