Job description

As Austin's footprint rapidly expands into the Hill Country, pest and wildlife activity is at an all-time high in 2026. We're looking for a self-motivated Pest Control Technician who thrives on the independence of the road — and who's ready to grow into wildlife exclusion and structural repair as part of an elite, growing team.

We're unapologetically non-corporate. No buzzwords, no spreadsheet-managed field teams, no "suits." We hire people we trust, train them to deliver elite service, and give them the tools and freedom to solve unique problems — and we tell it to you straight, even when it isn't easy to hear.

You'll take full ownership of your own route — inspections, treatments, and customer relationships — using Integrated Pest Management to deliver long-term results for Central Texas homes. As you grow, you'll pick up specialized skills in wildlife exclusion and structural repair, with a clear path into sales or the specialty trade.

What You'll Do

  • Own Your Route: Take full ownership of your customers — service, retention, and consistent, high-quality treatments.
  • Apply IPM: Perform inspections and targeted treatments for common Central Texas pests (ants, spiders, scorpions, etc.), with a focus on long-term results, not just a quick spray.
  • Document Everything: Use our mobile field platform to give clients detailed notes and photos of your findings. We value clear communication and radical accountability.
  • Maintain Your Rig: Keep your service vehicle and equipment clean, organized, and in professional working order.
  • Grow Into Exclusion: As you become proficient on your route, help our exclusion team with setting/picking up traps and minor structural sealing.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Self-Motivation: A proven track record of working independently and meeting goals — you don't need someone looking over your shoulder to do a great job.
  • Find-a-Way Mentality: You treat every home like your own, and you're not afraid to get into an attic or crawlspace to find the root of a problem.
  • Disciplined Execution: "Simple" doesn't mean "easy" — you follow through on the details, every time.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to explain service plans and build trust with homeowners.
  • Physical Readiness: Comfortable working outdoors in the Texas heat, navigating ladders and confined spaces.
  • License: Must have (or be willing to obtain) a Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) technician license. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

The Perks & Benefits

  • Pflugerville Proud: We're a local business that values our community.
  • Flexible Scheduling: We are abl to work with you around your commitments.
  • Modern Tools: Tech-forward field tools that make your job easier and your reporting more professional.
  • Clear Career Path: Whether you want to master a route, move into sales, or learn the specialty wildlife trade, we provide the training to get you there.
  • Time Off: 10 paid holidays per year, plus 1 week of vacation in your first year.

Our Commitments

  • To Our Team: We hire people we trust, give you the tools to do the job right, and treat you as the expert you are. We tell it to you straight, even when it isn't easy to hear, and do everything we can to help you grow — whether that's mastering your route, moving into sales, or learning the specialty wildlife trade.
  • To Our Customers: We're there when they need us, do exactly what we promised, deliver high-quality solutions, and stand behind our work.

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Pest Control License (Required)

Company Description

Prickly Pear is unapologetically non-corporate so we can’t tell you a bunch of corporate-y buzz words. Instead, we will tell you this: Prickly Pear is intentional about who we are and what we want to be.
Prickly Pear is a team dedicated to ethical practices and exceptional service in everything we do. We hire people who we can trust, train them to deliver the best service possible, and then give them the tools and freedom to apply that knowledge to a variety of unique problems facing our customers to ensure that our customers get the best experience and outcome possible.
We aren't subcontracting work out to be some high volume shop where we are focused on the bottom line exclusively. Prickly Pear is an employer with integrity; we have a management team that is focused on making sure you have what you need to be your best while trusting you to do what is right for the customers.
