Main Purpose of Job
Supervise lower-level Elevator Inspectors ensuring that inspections are conducted\r\nsafely and consistent with policies and procedures. Oversee the scheduling of work assignments targeting overall Departmental goals as well as individual inspector productivity.
POSITION DUTIES
Supervise and train lower-level Inspectors, evaluating their work performance and productivity ensuring that inspections are conducted safely and consistent with Departmental policies and procedures. Oversee lower-level Inspector work assignments ensuring that Departmental objectives are met.\r\n\r\n\r\nInspect new and existing elevators and other related equipment throughout the State for compliance with applicable Laws and Regulations. Perform accident investigations. Consult with industry representatives, manufacturers, building owners and managers resolving compliance issues.\r\n\r\n\r\nReview inspection reports, accident and daily summary reports submitted by lower-level inspectors for conformance with office protocol. Inform the Chief Inspector on day-to-day operations. Recommend proposed solutions to problems or concerns within the Department.\r\n\r\n\r\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: Two years of experience performing safety inspections of elevators and related devices for a federal, state or local regulatory inspection program.\r\nNotes:\r\n1.Candidates may substitute additional experience performing safety inspections of elevators and related devices for a federal, state or local regulatory inspection programon a year-for-year basis for the requirededucation. \r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience as a non-commissioned officer in General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement and Compliance classifications orGeneral Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement and Compliancespecialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating the performance and productivity of inspectors or other staff, including assigning work and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience conducting inspections of new and existing elevators and related equipment, investigating accidents, interpreting and applying applicable laws and regulations, and resolving compliance issues with industry representatives, manufacturers, building owners, and managers.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience reviewing inspection and accident reports for accuracy and compliance with established protocols, monitoring daily operations, identifying operational concerns, and recommending effective solutions to management.\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a Qualified Elevator Inspector certificate issued by an organization accredited by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. \r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classificationare subject to call-in on a 24 hours a day basis and will be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached. \r\n2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. \r\nAll candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud.
