Summary:

The Executive Housekeeper will supervise and coordinate the activities of room attendants, house attendants, public area cleaners, and floor supervisors. They are responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day operations of all housekeeping and laundry functions. The Executive Housekeeper participates in, and enforces, quality assurance for the Housekeeping Department. 


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Have an eye for detail and the ability to effectively deal with guests, other departments, and housekeeping staff
  • Obtain a list of vacant rooms to be cleaned immediately and a list of prospective checkouts or discharges to prepare work assignments for staff
  • Assign team members their duties and inspect their work for quality assurance
  • Prepare and distribute the room assignment sheet and floor keys
  • Maintain clear and efficient communication and coordination with the front office and other departments of the hotel
  • Schedule the cleaning of the room carpets, upholstery, and draperies as needed, along with deep cleaning projects and window cleanings as needed
  • Schedule cleaning for lobby area, public restrooms, telephone areas, hallways, entrances, and elevators
  • Schedule periodic major cleaning projects including carpet shampooing, walls and baseboards, and elevator doors and tracks
  • Schedule cleaning of all meeting rooms after a completed function
  • Complete the inventory for cleaning supplies and linen
  • Investigate concerns regarding housekeeping service and equipment and take corrective action.
  • Lead the housekeeping team in training, coaching, counseling, and enforce the hotels standard operating procedures
  • Ensure guest rooms are properly secured and that proper key control procedures are utilized by the housekeeping staff
  • Advise desk clerk of rooms ready for occupancy
  • Reward employees who use their empowerment to meet or exceed guest expectations
  • Print all housekeeping related reports and traces from the Property Management System
  • Assist in controlling expenses by the housekeeping department
  • Confirm all housekeeping staff members have arrived or find substitutes for absent employees

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years' experience in housekeeping OR 2-year degree in Hospitality Management from an accredited university
  • Supervisory experience in hospitality and hotels
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability and experience leading and training a team
