Job description

Overview

Lutron has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Electronics Technician at our Austin Engineering office in Austin, TX. 

Electronics Technicians work in a hands-on environment as members of cross-functional engineering teams – supporting the development of new products.  They work closely with some of the best engineers in the industry and can be involved in the product development process from initial concept, through the development, testing, manufacturing, and support phases. 

As part of their career development, Electronics technicians gain exposure to the broad range of technologies employed in our products. Some of these technologies include power electronics, analog and digital electronics, wired and wireless communication, software test automation, Ethernet communication, and embedded micro-controllers. A mentoring program, tuition reimbursement, along with continued learning through “Lutron University” enhances the professional and intellectual advancement of our technicians.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct extensive design verification and testing of both analog and digital circuits utilizing the fundamentals of electronics, electricity, and basic wiring
  • Product testing, including user interfaces and communication protocols
  • Hardware prototyping, soldering, troubleshooting circuit blocks
  • Setting up and performing product qualification testing in a laboratory setting
  • Developing test automation scripts for lab instruments
  • Assisting in transitioning designs from engineering into manufacturing
  • Coaching or mentoring other technicians

Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or related field of study required
  • Minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA required
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with electronics including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), function generators, and other related equipment preferred
  • Proficiency in soldering and reworking SMT and through-hole circuits preferred
