Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced and proactive Pre-Development Engineer specializing in automotive wire harnesses and electronic systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between global customers, our development team in Korea, and our Mexican manufacturing plant. You will lead technical communication, manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO), and ensure smooth technical transitions from pre-development through sample phases to initial mass production.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Pre-Development & Customer Requirement Analysis

  • Schedule Management: Manage technical timelines across vehicle project pre-development phases (Development, Prototyping, Pre-Production) and align them with customer milestones.
  • Technical Reviews: Feasibility-test customer technical requirements and modification requests; analyze differences between new requests and existing mass-production specifications.


2. Engineering Change & Document Management (ECR / ECO)

  • Specification Review: Analyze customer drawings, schematics, and technical data to fully understand harness configurations, circuits, branching, and packaging.
  • Impact Analysis: Evaluate how engineering changes affect structure, circuitry, sub-materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Global Implementation: Assess production feasibility at the Mexico plant, disseminate changes to cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Materials, Logistics), and synchronize customer approval dates with internal implementation schedules.


3. Cross-Border Technical Collaboration & Manufacturing Feasibility

  • DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Collaborate with the Mexico factory and HQ to review process applicability, workability, assembly ease, and equipment impacts.
  • Tooling & Equipment Adjustments: Monitor process modifications, jig/fixture adjustments, and equipment changes driven by engineering updates.
  • Risk Management: Evaluate technical risks using DFMEA methodologies to identify and mitigate early-stage quality risks.


4. Technical Communication & Deliverable Management

  • Customer Interface: Participate in customer technical meetings to explain engineering changes, implementation schedules, and feasibility analysis results.
  • Sample & Prototype Management: Coordinate schedules for customer-requested prototype build plans with the Mexican plant; manage sample specifications and software/hardware design versions.
  • Issue Resolution: Diagnose root causes of technical issues (design, material, process) arising during the prototyping and pre-production phases, and drive corrective actions.


Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Language: Professional fluency in English (required for technical documentation and collaboration).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in automotive components or electronics engineering/technical customer response.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong background in automotive wire harnesses or electronic vehicle systems.
  • Client Experience: Proven track record of managing projects or responding to technical requests for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG / Kia).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP (ERP) and advanced MS Excel capabilities.
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in Korean or Spanish is highly advantageous (for smoother communication with HQ and the Mexico factory).
