What you will be doing
The Accounting team has an opening for an Accountant in the Electronic Banking Department. This position is located at National Services Center in Phoenix, AZ.
Main responsibilities:
  • Oversee the gift card desk activity and support the accounting clerk
  • Perform as functional lead for the gift card applications and the ReconNet transaction matching application
  • Coordinate with the gift card clerk to perform analysis, reconciliations, and book journal entries for first party gift cards
  • Prepare periodic account reconciliations and support staff with their account reconciliations
  • Perform closing activities including journal entries, allocations, accruals and analysis
  • Support team members on all interface file issues
  • Create standard and ad hoc reports utilizing various applications: SQL, Access, Excel, ODBC queries, Oracle
  • Take the lead on tasks requiring research, organization, communication, and problem resolution
  • Coordinate with associates to identify process efficiencies
  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring all tasks are completed on time
  • Responsible for providing guidance to internal/external customers
  • Facilitate audits conducted by internal/external entities
  • Train and assist team members in specific accounting tasks and in the use of systems

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
  • Four-year college degree in accounting or business
  • Ideal candidate will have three or more years' accounting experience in a larger organization with mainframe-based accounting systems
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Intermediate level PC skills with knowledge of Windows and Microsoft software applications
  • Superior customer service attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy, initiative, and adaptability
  • Detail oriented with solid analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and ability to complete tasks with a minimum amount of supervision
  • Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting sound business ethics
