Job description

An innovative robotics company developing next-generation industrial automation systems is seeking a Senior Robotics Electrical Engineer to play a critical role in the design and development of complex robotic platforms. This organization is bringing advanced automation technologies from concept through commercial deployment, creating intelligent robotic systems that solve challenging real-world manufacturing and industrial problems.

This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering position where you'll work across the full product lifecycle-from early concept and prototyping through production release and field deployment. You'll collaborate with mechanical, software, controls, and systems engineering teams to develop robust electrical architectures that power cutting-edge robotic products.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of professional experience designing electrical systems for robotics, industrial automation, or complex electromechanical products
  • Experience developing electrical systems from concept through production release
  • Strong background in analog and digital circuit design
  • Experience designing multi-board embedded systems and electrical architectures
  • Expertise designing motor control systems, power distribution, and actuator interfaces
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols including CAN, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, SPI, UART, I2C, or RS-485
  • Experience selecting and integrating sensors including encoders, load cells, IMUs, proximity sensors, and vision systems
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent
  • Experience debugging complex electrical systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and laboratory equipment
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC, grounding, signal integrity, and electrical safety principles
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • Experience with embedded firmware development using C/C++
  • Experience working with robotic manipulators, AGVs, AMRs, or autonomous systems
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and machine safety design
  • Experience with PLCs and industrial control systems
  • Knowledge of battery management systems, power electronics, and high-current designs
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Experience supporting product validation, compliance testing, and regulatory certifications
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 and robotics software architectures
  • Startup or fast-paced product development experience
What You Will Be Doing
  • Design and develop electrical architectures for advanced robotic and automation systems
  • Create schematics, PCB layouts, cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, and electrical documentation
  • Design power distribution systems, embedded control hardware, and motor drive interfaces
  • Select and integrate sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, and communication networks
  • Collaborate with software, controls, mechanical, and systems engineers to develop fully integrated robotic platforms
  • Prototype, validate, and troubleshoot electrical hardware throughout the development lifecycle
  • Support manufacturing by creating production documentation, BOMs, ECOs, and test procedures
  • Perform root cause analysis on complex hardware issues during development and field deployments
  • Lead design reviews and establish electrical engineering best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to long-term platform architecture decisions
Tech Breakdown
  • 35% Electrical System Design
  • 25% Embedded Hardware & PCB Development
  • 20% Robotics Integration & Controls
  • 20% System Validation, Testing & Debugging
Daily Responsibilities
  • 70% Hands-On Engineering & Design
  • 15% Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • 15% Technical Leadership & Design Reviews
The Offer

You will receive the following benefits:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid Time Off and company holidays
  • Professional development and continuing education support
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics products from concept through commercial deployment
  • Fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment with significant technical ownership
