About Hyp-tro Pro

Hyp-tro Pro is a growing division of Hyp-tro Building Services, LLC, providing professional electrical, HVAC, plumbing, maintenance, repair, and building service solutions for residential, commercial, and government clients. We are seeking a qualified Master Electrician to support our expanding electrical division and oversee code-compliant electrical work across multiple project types.

Position Summary

The Master Electrician will be responsible for performing, supervising, and certifying electrical work in accordance with applicable codes, permit requirements, safety standards, and project specifications. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, professionalism, and the ability to represent Hyp-tro Pro with clients, inspectors, property managers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.

The ideal candidate is dependable, licensed, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of leading electrical work from service calls through full project completion.

Key Responsibilities

The Master Electrician will:

  • Perform and supervise electrical installations, repairs, upgrades, maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Review work orders, scopes of work, drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, permit requirements, and inspection guidelines.
  • Pull or support electrical permits where required based on licensing authority and project location.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical panels, circuits, conduit, wiring, lighting, receptacles, switches, breakers, disconnects, transformers, generators, and related electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in residential, commercial, multifamily, government, and facility maintenance settings.
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, property managers, building engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Provide accurate documentation, including service notes, photos, material lists, labor hours, inspection results, and completion reports.
  • Identify change order conditions, safety concerns, code deficiencies, and material needs.
  • Lead, train, and supervise apprentices, helpers, journeyman electricians, and subcontracted labor when assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Ensure company tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials are properly used, secured, and maintained.
  • Represent Hyp-tro Pro professionally in all client and field interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Master Electrician License in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, or the applicable project jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, work orders, and code requirements.
  • Experience with permitting, inspections, and code compliance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and recommend practical repair solutions.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background checks where required for government, school, commercial, or secured facilities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage field responsibilities with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with commercial buildings, government contracts, schools, multifamily properties, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience supervising crews or subcontractors.
  • Low-voltage, fire alarm, security, access control, or data cabling experience is a plus.
  • Generator, EV charger, lighting retrofit, or panel upgrade experience.
  • Familiarity with mobile work orders, service software, digital reporting, and photo documentation.

Work Environment

This position may require work in residential properties, commercial buildings, mechanical/electrical rooms, construction sites, government facilities, and occupied client spaces. The Master Electrician must be able to lift materials, use ladders and tools, work in tight spaces, follow lockout/tagout procedures, and comply with all jobsite safety requirements.
