What is an electrician apprentice program?

An Electrician Apprentice Program job is a paid, hands-on training position where individuals learn the skills needed to become a licensed electrician. Apprentices work under the supervision of experienced electricians while completing classroom instruction on electrical theory, safety, and code requirements. These programs typically last 4-5 years and are required for obtaining a journeyman electrician license. Apprentices gain valuable experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

What can I expect in terms of career advancement after completing an electrician apprentice program?

After successfully completing an Electrician Apprentice Program, you typically become eligible to take a journeyman electrician exam, which can significantly expand your career opportunities and earning potential. Many electricians go on to specialize in areas such as industrial, commercial, or residential work, or pursue additional certifications for higher-level, supervisory, or inspection roles. As you gain experience, you may also have the opportunity to mentor new apprentices or become a master electrician. This pathway offers a clear structure for upward mobility and long-term career growth within the skilled trades.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the electrician apprentice program position, and why are they important?

To thrive in an Electrician Apprentice Program, you need a basic understanding of electrical theory, strong mechanical aptitude, and a high school diploma or equivalent. You'll commonly work with hand and power tools, follow electrical codes, and may begin pursuing certifications such as OSHA safety training. Eagerness to learn, attention to detail, good communication, and reliability are valuable soft skills. These qualifications enable you to safely learn from journeyman electricians, adapt to various job sites, and progress successfully through your apprenticeship.

You don't need to be enrolled in an apprenticeship program to apply. If you're motivated, reliable, and ready to learn, we'll help you grow. We offer an in-house apprenticeship program and may provide bootcamp-style training to help you work toward your apprenticeship card.

This position will require travel to Ohio for the first 1-4 months to support a project (60-hour work weeks). After that initial period, the role transitions to local work within an hour's commute of the branch you're hired into. • Per Diem
  • Paid Time Off
  • 401(k) with matching
  • Safety-First Culture: Safety Equipment & Uniforms Provided
  • Real Growth Paths: this role is designed to grow with you
  • In-House Apprenticeship Program: structured development, including support to work toward your apprenticeship card and licensure

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Building and wiring electrical panels, primarily for an initial assignment on a large-scale project in Ohio
  • Learning to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and specifications

  • Supporting the team with tooling and material needs on the job
  • Upholding job site safety standards (PPE, OSHA, NEC)
  • Communicating clearly with the team and service manager

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals
  • Willingness to learn panel building, 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
  • Comfortable working under supervision and taking direction
  • Reliable, hardworking, and eager to grow in the trade
  • Willing and able to travel to Ohio for the first 1-4 months of employment (60-hour weeks)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license
