Electrical Estimator

Location: Mt. Airy, MD
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team in Mt. Airy, MD. This position will support a growing electrical contractor specializing in large-scale commercial construction projects, including ground-up developments. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing accurate estimates, reviewing construction documents, managing bid processes, and working closely with project teams to develop competitive proposals.

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for evaluating project opportunities, performing detailed takeoffs, analyzing costs, and supporting successful project awards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates for large-scale commercial construction projects
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform accurate electrical takeoffs and material quantity calculations
  • Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Identify project scope requirements, risks, and cost considerations
  • Prepare bid proposals and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and leadership throughout the estimating process
  • Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations after award
  • Maintain knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and pricing trends

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator within commercial construction
  • Experience estimating ground-up commercial electrical projects
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Experience with electrical estimating software preferred
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with a commercial electrical contractor
  • Background estimating large-scale commercial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction processes from preconstruction through project completion
