Working under the direction of the Electrical Production Manager, youโ€™ll work closely with designers, engineers, and fabricators to develop, refine, and install custom electronic systems for interactive exhibits and media-based experiences.If youโ€™re technically skilled, detail-oriented, and passionate about building experiences that blend electronics, mechanics, and digital media, this is an opportunity to work on high-profile projects and push the boundaries of experiential storytelling.**Essential Functions** (include, but are not limited to)* **Electronic Fabrication & Assembly** โ€“ Build, wire, and integrate custom control boxes, A/V racks, and exhibit electronics, ensuring they meet Rotoโ€™s quality and safety standards.* **Prototyping & Testing** โ€“ Develop and test new exhibit systems and devices, troubleshooting performance issues and refining functionality.* **Software & Programming** โ€“ Program microcontrollers (Arduino, C++), PLCs, and specialized show control systems used in museum and entertainment installations.* **Exhibit Installation & Integration** โ€“ Work hands-on to install electronic and A/V systems into final exhibit structures, collaborating with fabricators and designers.* **Technical Documentation** โ€“ Create and maintain wiring schematics, technical specifications, parts lists, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure long-term system reliability.* **Material Sourcing & Inventory Management** โ€“ Research, source, and order electronic components, sensors, lighting, and A/V equipment, while maintaining organized inventories.* **Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration** โ€“ Work alongside engineers, designers, and fabricators to bring interactive exhibits from concept to reality.* **Exhibit Maintenance & Support** โ€“ Assist with on-site troubleshooting, repairs, and warranty trips as needed to support previously installed exhibits.## Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities* 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical, electronic, or computer technology or a degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer technology, or related field.* Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electronics, A/V, and control systems.* Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino in C++), with additional programming languages or PLC knowledge as a plus.* Experience with Touch Designer for interactive media programming is preferred.* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, floor plans, and technical schematics.* Proficiency with hand tools, soldering, and fabrication equipment for assembling electrical and A/V systems.* Strong organizational and documentation skillsโ€”able to maintain detailed technical records and troubleshoot based on prior builds.* Experience with CAD, SketchUp, or SolidWorks is a plus.* **Bonus skills (not required but beneficial):** + Power system design & high-voltage control box fabrication + VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) + Circuit board design & 3D printing + Audio/video editing & installation**Physical Requirements*** Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.* Comfortable working in shop conditions, active construction sites, and installation environments.* Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work with hands-on fabrication tools for extended periods.* Must be able to operate computers, test equipment, and machinery as needed.* Willingness to travel domestically or internationally for installations or maintenance trips.**Why Join Roto?**At Roto, we push the boundaries of experiential design, blending art, technology, and story to create extraordinary museum exhibits, immersive attractions, and more.
