Electrical Engineer - Spaceflight Hardware (2-Year Contract)
Location: Houston, TX (Webster area)
Work Schedule: 29 hours per week | Monday-Wednesday onsite, Thursday remote
Contract Duration: 2 years
Pay Range: $75.00-$95.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Overview
Aegis Aerospace has a long history of developing and delivering spaceflight hardware and payloads supporting the International Space Station (ISS), NASA lunar missions, and other human-spaceflight programs. As our portfolio continues to grow, our team is developing another ISS payload as well as hardware supporting a commercial space station.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our project team in Webster, Texas to design, develop, integrate, and test electrical hardware supporting these programs. The successful candidate will be a hands-on product development engineer capable of supporting electrical hardware through the full development lifecycle-from requirements definition and concept development through design, procurement, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, verification, and test.
This is a 2-year contract position working a fixed 29-hour schedule each week, with Monday through Wednesday onsite in Webster and Thursday remote.
Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret system and interface requirements and translate them into electrical hardware requirements.
  • Develop and document electrical system and hardware requirements.
  • Design electrical circuits, printed circuit boards, interfaces, and supporting electrical hardware.
  • Conduct electrical trade studies and provide technical expertise when evaluating design alternatives.
  • Perform circuit analyses and engineering calculations to validate design performance.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet applicable size, weight, power, performance, and cost constraints.
  • Define and baseline electrical interfaces to support successful system integration.
  • Develop and maintain electrical hardware specifications, schematics, drawings, and other technical documentation.
  • Support PCB design and development using Altium or comparable design tools.
  • Plan and execute verification and validation activities to demonstrate compliance with requirements.
  • Develop detailed assembly, integration, and test procedures.
  • Use laboratory test equipment to verify, characterize, and troubleshoot electrical hardware.
  • Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of development and flight hardware.
  • Review electrical drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and release.
  • Present design progress, technical approach, trade studies, test results, and engineering rationale at formal design reviews.
  • Contribute to safety documentation and support safety review boards as required.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Minimal travel is expected. Occasional evening or weekend support may be required during critical integration, test, or program milestones.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in product development for spaceflight, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability/high-specification equipment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) with the ability to complete a U.S. government background check.
  • Experience supporting electrical hardware through multiple phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with electrical circuit design, analysis, schematic development, and PCB design.
  • Experience using Altium or comparable circuit/PCB design software.
  • Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment to test, characterize, verify, and troubleshoot electrical systems and hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience performing electrical trade studies and evaluating design alternatives.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical circuit calculations and analysis.
  • Experience developing engineering specifications, technical documentation, and test procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with sound engineering judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
  • Design, procurement, manufacturing, integration, or testing of spaceflight hardware.
  • Electrical hardware designed for extreme or high-reliability environments, including vibration, thermal extremes, or vacuum.
  • Advanced Altium PCB design, particularly boards incorporating embedded processors or microcontrollers.
  • Embedded electrical systems and processor-based hardware.
  • Development of software or automated test tools used to verify PCB functionality.
  • DC power system design.
  • DC-DC converter design, selection, and implementation.
  • Linear regulator design and implementation.
  • Analog sensor interfaces and signal conditioning.
  • Operational amplifier circuits and passive analog filtering.
  • ADC selection, implementation, and interfacing.
  • Electrical hardware verification, qualification, or acceptance testing.
