Position Summary
Armand Corporation is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to support a major transportation agency client in the review and coordination of Tenant Alteration Applications (TAA) and design audit projects. This role requires a highly organized and technically proficient professional with extensive knowledge of electrical building systems, applicable building codes, medium-voltage electrical systems, and construction practices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing electrical design documents, construction drawings, specifications, load calculations, service calculations, and technical reports to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, Port Authority technical standards, and project requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple technical disciplines, tenant representatives, engineers of record, and agency personnel.Essential ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design & Technical Review
  • Review electrical design submissions associated with Tenant Alteration Applications (TAA) and design audit projects.
  • Analyze electrical drawings, specifications, load calculations, service calculations, and related technical documentation.
  • Review electrical systems including medium-voltage (over 600 volts), fire alarm, cathodic protection, and radio frequency systems.
  • Verify compliance with applicable building codes, Port Authority standards, and technical requirements.
  • Review construction documents for completeness, code compliance, and technical accuracy.
Project Coordination
  • Download and process electronic TAA submissions.
  • Coordinate review comments among multiple engineering and technical disciplines.
  • Assign technical review responsibilities to appropriate disciplines when required.
  • Prepare memoranda and correspondence transmitting review comments to project stakeholders.
  • Communicate with Port Authority facilities personnel regarding TAA and design audit project processing.
Meetings & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Attend meetings with tenant Architects and Engineers of Record.
  • Present review comments and discuss required revisions.
  • Assist in resolving electrical design and code-related issues.
  • Serve as liaison between tenant representatives, Port Authority facilities personnel, and technical reviewers.
Administrative & Systems Support
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and agency software platforms to maintain project documentation and track review activities.
  • Learn and utilize agency systems including SharePoint, Trimble, Adobe Acrobat, and other project management applications.
Minimum QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of diverse experience involving building electrical systems and applicable electrical codes.
  • Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems (over 600 volts).
  • Experience reviewing electrical construction documents and engineering calculations.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Building electrical systems
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Cathodic protection systems
    • Radio frequency systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical disciplines related to building design and construction of transportation and related facilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of New York and/or New Jersey.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting transportation facilities, airports, transit systems, tunnels, bridges, or other public infrastructure projects.
  • Experience performing electrical code compliance reviews and design audits.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Trimble, Adobe Acrobat, or similar document management platforms.
  • Experience working with public agencies or government clients.
