Job description

We are seeking a skilled R&D Electrical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of engineering functions involving the design and development of high voltage Bus System products and develop new and improved designs. As industry standards continue to adapt, you'll support the research and development function to improve or enhance existing designs, and to ensure that the HV Bus product line remains current with industry requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Perform dielectric design and electrical stress analysis of HV components and systems using finiteelement tools (e.g., COMSOL, Electro, Coulomb, or similar)

  • Optimize component geometry to reduce electrical stress and improve performance and reliability

  • Support customerspecific designs, including voltage ratings, insulation systems, and testing parameters

  • Develop and maintain electrical specifications aligned with IEC, ANSI, NEMA, and CENELEC standards

  • Collaborate on type testing and validation, including dielectric, continuous current, and shortcircuit performance

  • Work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and purchasing to qualify materials and components

  • Contribute to new product development, cost improvement initiatives, and documentation

YOU HAVE:

  • BSEE or MSEE or related field

  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following:

    • Highvoltage equipment or components

    • Power transmission & distribution systems

    • Electrical insulation or dielectric systems

    • Utility, rail electrification, industrial power, or similar fields

  • Experience with electrical stress analysis, insulation coordination, or highvoltage testing

  • Familiarity with IEC, ANSI, or NEMA standards (SF or nonSF systems a plus)

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range:

$83,500.00 - $155,200.00

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
