The Analysis Solutions Business Area at Leidos is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Reston, Virginia. The primary focus of this group is conducting engineering assessments of critical infrastructure, including strategic and heavy industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate will bring a creative yet disciplined approach to solving complex engineering challenges in environments where complete information is often unavailable. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to thorough, high-quality work.

As a member of an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel, you will support facility characterization efforts and provide engineering expertise to inform critical mission decisions. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment within a government facility.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a facility characterization team, the successful candidate will:

  • Systematically integrate all-source intelligence, facility expertise, engineering principles, and industry best practices to characterize facility functions, missions, and physical configurations.

  • Assess facility layouts, physical structures, mission systems, support systems, 3D models, and potential vulnerabilities.

  • Utilize industry-standard modeling and simulation tools to analyze complex electrical power systems.

  • Provide engineering guidance and technical judgment throughout the characterization process to produce accurate intelligence assessments.

  • Develop written products, including technical reports and briefings, that communicate complex electrical system designs, dependencies, and operational considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Brief senior government officials on facility capabilities, trends, and analytical findings.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in support of mission objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI with polygraph.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, theories, and concepts, with the ability to apply them across a range of technical challenges.

  • Experience planning, engineering, and designing electrical power systems, with an emphasis on substations and power distribution systems.

  • Experience interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and design documentation in both digital and hard-copy formats.

  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and industry standards.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief and interact effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior government officials.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, life-safety systems, and associated controls commonly found in commercial, government, and industrial facilities.

  • Experience specifying and procuring major electrical power equipment.

  • Experience planning, engineering, and designing emergency power systems, including generators and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.

  • Familiarity with Smart Grid technologies and energy management systems.

  • Experience with substation protection and control system design.

  • Experience modeling and simulating electrical distribution systems and SCADA-controlled environments.

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.

  • Facility planning and infrastructure assessment experience.
