Amteck LLC is seeking candidates to participate in an Electrical Design Engineer summer internship in our Lexington, KY office. This is an opportunity for an highly motivated individual to be an important part of an engineering team and put their education into practical use through on the job training and mentorship. This individual will take part in the designing of electrical power systems for construction projects located across the country in a fast-paced, challenging, fun and rewarding environment. Most project designs will be for new manufacturing facilities and will also include some lighter commercial as well as heavier industrial buildings.
What you will do:
  • Learn the process of collecting and organizing all of the bid information documents from the General Contractor(s)
  • Learn how to evaluate the bid documents and determine the best methods and strategies for design with assistance from the engineering manager/pre-construction manager
  • Learn to provide bid information as needed to the appropriate design services providers
  • Learn how to perform preliminary Designs
  • Learn the process to Provide the estimating team with all known bid breakdown requirements
  • Participate in the Evaluation all quoted items for accuracy
  • Learn ways to organize the bid documents
  • Participate in the Coordination with the pre-construction managers to follow-up with the client until the bid is won or lost

Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in electrical engineering
  • Some Experience in AutoCAD electrical and Revit (Not required, but preferred)
  • Ability to learn and understand, interpret and troubleshoot customer needs and problems
  • Some Experienced in electrical design and circuits preferred
  • Strong administrative, accounting, computer and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Willingness to gain the ability to build trust and influence others internally and externally
