Role Overview

Carollo Engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Power) to join its Portland team. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with 6โ€“15 years of experience in consulting engineering and a strong background in electrical power systems design.

This position will lead field investigations, electrical system design, and construction support activities for water and wastewater treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in power engineering, mentor junior engineers, and contribute meaningfully to complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Power Systems Design
  • Perform detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities.

  • Conduct load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, harmonic distortion analysis, and power factor corrections.

  • Design motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, and conduit routing systems.

  • Develop technical specifications and construction documentation.

Field & Construction Support
  • Lead and participate in field investigations and startup/commissioning activities.

  • Provide construction-phase engineering support and technical review.

  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 820, NESC, and applicable industry standards.

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Interface directly with clients and stakeholders in a professional and collaborative manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • PE (Professional Engineer) registration required.

  • 6โ€“15 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in consulting.

  • Strong knowledge of power system analysis including short circuit current, voltage drop, harmonics, and power factor.

  • Experience with NEC, NFPA 820, NESC, and IEEE Color Book standards.
