Job description

Electrical Power Distribution Design & Estimating Engineer | West Allis, Wisconsin | $85,000-$100,000/year + estimated $8,500-$10,000 commission
If you can take an electrical project from power distribution design to a solid construction estimate, this is an opportunity to put both sides of your expertise to work.
You'll contribute to projects from design through construction, developing power distribution systems, preparing accurate estimates, and working alongside architects, engineers, contractors, and construction teams. Your work will directly influence both the technical quality and financial success of each project.
What you'll do:
• Design electrical power distribution systems, including service entrances, feeders, panels, and lighting
• Develop one-line diagrams, load calculations, and electrical layouts using AutoCAD and Revit
• Perform lighting design, voltage drop calculations, and coordination studies
• Prepare cost estimates using Accubid or comparable estimating software
• Review construction documents and develop material take-offs and labor estimates
• Collaborate with project teams to align designs with project requirements and budgets
• Respond to RFIs and provide technical support during construction
• Ensure designs comply with NEC and applicable construction standards
• Manage multiple design and estimating assignments while maintaining accuracy and deadlines
What you bring:
• 3-7 years of experience in electrical design and estimating
• Experience in design-build, electrical contracting, or general contractor environments
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Accubid or comparable estimating software
• Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and construction standards
• Ability to manage multiple electrical designs and estimates simultaneously
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a PE license or Designer of Engineering Systems license may be considered in lieu of the degree
LEED certification and BIM experience are a plus.
If you're an electrical engineer or designer who understands both power distribution design and construction estimating, this role gives you the opportunity to have an impact well beyond the drawing board.
