Requirements:

Summary of Functions: The E & I Technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of all property and production assets in a safe, sanitary and efficient condition. The E & I Technician is responsible for staying up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to support production operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Program and verify operation of level sensors.
  • Program and verify operation of RTDs.
  • Program and verify operation of Flow Meters.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and pneumatic/hydraulic problems on all plant equipment.
  • Work on, troubleshoot, install and program Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Replace electrical motors.
  • Trouble shoot PLCs and the programs.
  • Load a PLC program into a new PLC.
  • Trouble shoot electrical circuitry/MCC.
  • Experience and working knowledge on the following voltages: 24 V.DC; 120 V: AC single phase; 208/240 single phase and 208/240/480 V. three phase.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner to the highest quality standards.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with company safety and GMP policies/guidelines.
  • Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lock-out tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • May be assigned other tasks in addition to E & I Technician responsibilities.


Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP and SQF regulations.
  • Comply with GMPs in the plant.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system.


Organizational Relationships:

Position reports to the E & I Supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience in the maintenance and/or operation of a process manufacturing facility.
  • In-depth knowledge of the production plant as an asset.
  • Experience with repairs and maintenance of processing equipment.
  • Strong background in electrical, HVAC, boiler, PLC and mechanical environments.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands-on, team-oriented and committed to business improvement processes.
  • Process-oriented mentality.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge in writing product specifications.
