Are you an Electrical & Automation leader who enjoys solving complex reliability challenges and leading continuous improvement initiatives?

We're seeking an experienced Superintendent, Electrical & Automation to oversee the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of all electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems within a large heavy industrial manufacturing facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering leader who enjoys combining electrical engineering, automation, maintenance, reliability, and project management while leading a team of skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians.

What You'll Be Responsible For
  • Lead the reliability and performance of all plant electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems
  • Oversee medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), motors, grounding systems, lighting, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and plant control systems
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
  • Analyze equipment failures, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement long-term corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, PLC, HMI, and control system issues while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Lead electrical and automation capital improvement projects from design and specification through commissioning, startup, and performance optimization
  • Develop PLC logic, HMI programming modifications, and automation upgrades to improve plant operations
  • Provide technical support for maintenance projects, equipment repairs, and system upgrades
  • Collect and analyze maintenance history, equipment performance data, and reliability metrics to improve overall asset performance
  • Participate in maintenance budgeting while managing electrical and automation maintenance costs
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations, Engineering, vendors, contractors, and maintenance personnel
  • Supervise and develop Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians while promoting a strong safety culture
  • Monitor predictive maintenance programs and recommend improvements to maximize equipment availability and plant performance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, controls, or automation leadership within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar platforms)
  • Experience with HMI programming, industrial controls, instrumentation, and automation systems
  • Strong understanding of MV/LV electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, motors, VFDs, and industrial electrical equipment
  • Experience implementing preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs
  • Proven experience leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA), troubleshooting complex electrical failures, and implementing long-term corrective actions
  • Experience managing capital projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities
  • CMMS experience preferred (SAP, Maximo, or similar)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
