Job description

Licensed Electrical Engineer – PE

St. Louis, MO (or Aurora/Chicago, IL | Lafayette, IN | Cleveland, OH)

Salary range: $120,000 – $145,000, commensurate with experience and licensure.

About the Opportunity

We are a full-service architecture, engineering, and construction firm with a 125-year legacy of delivering innovative, functional spaces across a wide range of building types — from K–12 schools and universities to multifamily, municipal, and commercial projects. Our engineering team supports all office locations firmwide.

We are seeking an experienced, licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) to join our St. Louis office and help lead the electrical engineering function. This is a senior-level opportunity with real autonomy, direct client engagement, and a clear path to leading the electrical team.

The Role

As the Licensed Electrical Engineer, you will serve as the electrical lead on projects across building types, collaborating with architects, mechanical engineers, and project teams. You will stamp drawings, mentor junior designers, interact directly with clients, and help build the electrical discipline at this office location.

You will report to the MEP Department Lead and work alongside a strong team of designers and engineers across multiple offices.

Key Responsibilities

•      Lead and manage electrical engineering deliverables across multiple concurrent projects

•      Collaborate with architects and project teams to develop fully integrated MEP system designs

•      Prepare, review, and stamp electrical plans, specifications, and construction documents

•      Ensure compliance with applicable codes, energy standards, and sustainable design practices

•      Provide technical expertise and QA/QC through design and construction phases

•      Perform site visits, field surveys, and construction administration support

•      Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients to resolve design and field issues

•      Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineering staff and designers

Typical Scope of Work

Our electrical engineers handle all aspects of building electrical systems, including:

•      Power distribution (480V and below)

•      Lighting design (AGI32 software)

•      Fire alarm systems

•      Arc flash analysis (SKM software)

•      Light AV and low-voltage coordination (larger tech projects are subcontracted)

Building types include K–12, higher education, multifamily, municipal, and commercial. Hospital work is not in scope. Medium voltage projects are rare.

Required Qualifications

•      Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

•      5+ years of experience in building systems electrical engineering design

•      PE license required — active licensure in MO or IL (or multiple states) preferred; reciprocal licensing support available for additional states

•      Proficient in Revit (primary platform), AutoCAD, AGI32, and/or SKM

•      Solid knowledge of building codes, energy codes, and design standards

•      Strong communication skills — client-facing presence required

•      Comfortable leading, mentoring, and coordinating across teams and offices

•      Experience in a design firm or architecture-integrated practice strongly preferred

Work Arrangement

Preferred location is St. Louis, MO. Candidates in Aurora/Chicago, IL, Lafayette, IN, or Cleveland, OH will also be considered.

After an initial in-office onboarding period (approximately the first 3 months), a hybrid/remote arrangement is available. Travel is expected to be approximately 10% or less, primarily local to your office region.

Comprehensive benefits package available including medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, retirement plan with employer match, and paid time off.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
