Summary:
The purpose of the Electrical Technician at the Kearny roofing plant is to install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. This role also provides maintenance repairs to industrial machinery as needed to keep a continuous manufacturing process supported.
This individual is expected to perform as a professional, highly skilled and exceptionally competent maintenance person. They must be able to analyze causes of breakdowns and carry out corrective measures.
REQUIRED Experience:
  • Two (2)+ year's experience in related maintenance trade or occupation that involved electrical and electronic components in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot plant electrical and electronic systems to support safe and reliable production operations.
  • Lead electrical downtime troubleshooting, diagnose equipment failures, and perform repairs on industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Install, repair, and replace electrical components including relays, switches, motors, drives, sensors, and other control devices.
  • Apply knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including electrical codes, schematics, P&ID drawings, motor controls, power circuits, fusing, thermal overload protection, wire sizing, AC/DC systems, servo drives, and variable frequency drives.
  • Safely perform electrical testing, motor control troubleshooting, drive troubleshooting, and control system adjustments while coordinating with technical support and contractors as needed.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Interpret and follow instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative and drive toward accomplishment, and consistently produce high-quality work.
  • Maintain compliance with all plant safety, environmental, and housekeeping requirements while promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance personnel, operations teams, and outside contractors to support plant objectives and equipment reliability.
  • Maintain regular attendance, comply with all plant rules and procedures, participate in required training, and perform other duties as assigned.

Training and Development
We are committed to developing and upskilling our maintenance team. While candidates are expected to bring electrical maintenance experience from a manufacturing environment, there are many aspects of the role that can be learned through on-the-job training. Training for this position will include, but is not limited to:
  • Hydraulics systems
  • Pneumatics systems
  • Basic welding
  • Maintenance-related computer systems/SAP
  • Plant-specific equipment and processes
  • Additional maintenance disciplines as needed

Successful candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn, participate in training, and continuously expand their technical skills and knowledge.
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The employee should possess the ability to:
  • Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for several hours
  • Able to climb on and off of fork truck
  • Able to climb and descend stairs
  • Lift and push and pull 45lbs
  • Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
  • Willingness to work in manufacturing environment (loud noises, heat)
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or control continuously
  • Repetitive movements
  • Willingness to occasionally work at heights or confined spaces
  • Willingness to work nights
