Job description

Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our engineering team and help design, develop, test, and bring to production next-generation electronic systems for advanced flying and autonomous technologies.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across circuit design, PCB development, embedded systems, firmware integration, and real-world hardware testing. You will have the opportunity to take designs from concept through prototype, bring-up, validation, and production while collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate is a practical problem solver who is comfortable working in the lab, troubleshooting hardware, and turning concepts into reliable products.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and develop analog and digital electronic circuits for embedded and high-performance systems.
  • Design multi-layer PCBs from schematic through layout, prototype, bring-up, and validation.
  • Develop and evaluate power electronics, including DC-DC converters, voltage regulation, and battery-powered systems.
  • Integrate hardware with embedded software, firmware, sensors, communications, and real-time systems.
  • Work with communication protocols including SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN.
  • Perform hands-on hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and system-level issues under real-world operating conditions.
  • Consider signal integrity, grounding, EMI/EMC, DFM, and DFT throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and contract manufacturing partners to transition designs into production.
  • Support prototype development, testing, validation, production scaling, and field reliability.
  • Work with open-source flight-control and robotics platforms such as PX4, ArduPilot, Betaflight, or INAV.
  • Configure and tune firmware and support hardware bring-up within these ecosystems.
  • Interface hardware with embedded software environments, including Linux, RTOS, and other real-time systems.
  • Use Git for version control and contribute to or modify open-source codebases as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, software, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop reliable, production-ready products.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical, electronics, or hardware engineering.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, iterative hardware development environment.

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience designing and shipping multi-layer PCBs.
  • Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCad, Fusion 360 Electronics, or similar.
  • Experience with power electronics, DC-DC converters, voltage regulation, and battery-powered systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN communication protocols.
  • Hands-on debugging experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and related lab equipment.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Ability to take a design from concept → schematic → PCB layout → prototype → bring-up → validation.

Flight Control & Embedded Systems

  • Ability to troubleshoot issues across the hardware/software interface.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with drones, FPV, robotics, aerospace, autonomous systems, or other flying technologies.
  • FPV flight experience or a strong personal interest in drone technology.
  • Familiarity with ESCs, brushless motor control, or high-current electrical systems.
  • Experience with RF systems, including video transmission, antennas, and telemetry.
  • Experience supporting production scaling, manufacturing transitions, or field reliability.
  • Contributions to open-source robotics, embedded systems, or flight-control projects.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware in production or field environments.
