The Senior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for providing take-off’s and estimates for industrial and commercial electrical projects as assigned by the General Manager. The Senior Electrical Estimator should be familiar with responding to RFP’s, and capable of providing design/build estimates. The Senior Estimator exemplifies the core values of Electrical Insights (EI) being Integrity, Stewardship and Quality with Safety being the forefront in every decision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description – other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.

  • Review requests for quotes (RFQ’s) and requests for proposals (RFP’s) to understand intent, requirements, details, timing and scope.
  • Create a schedule to accomplish scope of work (SOW).
  • Regularly attend pre-bid meetings, conferences, and perform site visits to determine site conditions.
  • Estimate all disciplines of an electrical project, this includes power, lighting, industrial wiring, and low voltage.
  • Perform risk analysis of projects as required.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with subcontractors and electrical suppliers.
  • Review and update union labor rates for estimates as required.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with General Contractors and potential subcontractors.
  • Solicit vendors for material pricing & equipment purchases.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to receive input on quotes as necessary.
  • Review any engineering or feasibility considerations.
  • Provide written Scopes of Work and project details to enable seamless hand off to project management.
  • Work with project managers to establish project schedules to align with labor projections and material lead times.
  • Perform kick-off meetings with project team. This may include safety, PM’s, field lead, engineers, shop & others.
  • Estimate potential subcontracts for site work, rigging, concrete pads etc.
  • Prepare bid packs for subcontractors as necessary.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for content, price, and clarifications.
  • Establish a schedule to ensure the bid pack is submitted on time.
  • Must be familiar with common industry labor units used for electrical installations.
  • Review all customer general specifications and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Understand customer needs and create proposals in the format requested.
  • Provide pricing break-outs as required for alternates, line item pricing, defined project scopes, change orders, etc.
  • Identify specific projects scopes that may utilize pre-fabrication which enables project efficiencies at scale.
  • Coach, train, and mentor other estimators.
  • Have no limitations on size or scope of projects to be estimated.
  • Provide project field order and/or change order estimates as required.
  • Other tasks or projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial/industrial electrical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an estimating, design, or project management role.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
  • Must be familiar with NECA and the IBEW.
  • Experience using Accubid estimating software is preferred. Will train a qualified candidate.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Experience with Accubid Estimating Software is a plus.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively.
  • State drivers license.
  • OSHA 30 will train.
  • Industry related licenses and/or certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, organizational processes, and objectives.
  • Show excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work indedpently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to maintain calm under pressure.
  • Some travel may be required occaisonaly based on project location.
