Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer is a senior-level engineering role based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, supporting the delivery of complex electrical infrastructure across industrial and energy-related projects. The position provides technical leadership for electrical system design, design coordination, documentation development, engineering reviews, and multidisciplinary project execution within a hybrid work environment.

The role is focused on electrical engineering services for nuclear facilities, oil and gas installations, and switchgear building projects, covering design development, technical reporting, engineering compliance, and project delivery activities. Work involves coordination with civil, architectural, and mechanical disciplines while ensuring alignment with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate brings more than ten years of electrical engineering experience, including significant exposure to nuclear, oil and gas, or switchgear facility design, together with professional engineering registration and demonstrated leadership in project execution and technical oversight.

Job Description

  • Lead the design, review, and implementation of electrical systems for nuclear, oil and gas, and switchgear building projects.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, engineering specifications, calculations, and technical reports in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Perform design coordination with architectural, civil, mechanical, and other multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering guidance to junior engineers and design personnel.
  • Conduct quality reviews of engineering deliverables to support accuracy, consistency, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and other applicable industry standards.
  • Participate in stakeholder coordination activities, including client meetings, project discussions, and technical presentations.
  • Support engineering standards development through the review and enhancement of departmental templates, procedures, and best practices.
  • Contribute technical input during project planning and execution activities to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator, including PEO or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of design and project experience in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Nuclear
    • Oil and Gas
    • Switchgear Electrical Building Design
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and other applicable local and international electrical standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical engineering design activities and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong project management, technical leadership, mentoring, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Assets

  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience using electrical engineering design software.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Additional experience across multiple industrial and energy infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience contributing to engineering standards, templates, and continuous improvement programs.
