Job description

RFA Engineering (;/strong>) develops embedded software and electronics for our world-class clients in the areas of precision agriculture and vehicle electrification. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's facility.

Electrical Engineering Technician
Electrical Engineering Technician will perform electrical and mechanical testing, design validation, and verification of battery cells, battery packs, and battery chargers. It will be essential to use caution, follow protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing on battery cells, battery packs, and battery charging equipment.
  • Work with engineering to understand and apply defined test requirements.
  • Troubleshoot defective lab equipment and provide required maintenance as needed.
  • Build intermediate test harnesses.
  • Document and maintain records relating to work performed.
  • Inform supervisor of process, test, or design problems and assist in the corrective action.
  • Assemble (mechanical/electrical) fixtures and test setups as required. This will require performing intermediate design functions.
  • Perform inspection, test, and failure analysis as necessary to determine cause of defective tests or assemblies.
  • Create test documentation when required for prototype products if engineering instructions are not available.
  • Communicate in a professional and effective manner.
  • Perform other associated tasks as required.
  • Supports 5S related activities.

Qualifications:
  • Electronics or a two-year technical diploma, equivalent military certification, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of related experience in electronics, manufacturing, or engineering.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to work in a safe manner around high voltage battery components. Training will be provided.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling correspondence with internal departments, vendors, and customers.
  • Experience in using Excel, Word and other Microsoft tools.
  • Understanding of test equipment and methods e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Ability to read intermediate engineering documents, e.g., schematics or diagrams.
  • Maintain necessary product records and documentation.
  • Ability to comprehend and use product/process component datasheets.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble components.
  • Ability to maintain test lab equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical work.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Li-ion battery handling and testing.
  • Experience building wire harnesses.
