Job description

Electrical Engineering Supervisor — Power Distribution & Microgrids

Denver, CO | Hybrid | $150,000–$185,000 + Short-Term Incentive

The Opportunity

Grid modernization is happening at scale — and this firm is in the middle of it. A Denver-based electric utility solutions company, backed by long-term utility privatization contracts, is looking for an Electrical Engineering Supervisor to lead a team delivering substation, distribution, and advanced microgrid projects (500kW–10MW) from concept through commissioning.

What sets this role apart: no silos. Engineers here work across every phase of a project — design, field execution, operations, and client interface. You'll own real deliverables, build a team, and see your work energized.

What You'll Own
  • Lead a team of engineers designing sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex distribution systems
  • Serve as technical lead and Owner's Engineer — responsible for project deliverables, RFI response, and compliance with client and industry standards
  • Drive engineering calculations, design alternatives, protection coordination, and power system modeling (ETAP or equivalent)
  • Interface directly with utility clients throughout project execution
  • Mentor junior engineers and grow the technical capability of your team
Why This Role

The firm operates one of the most unusual platforms in the industry—a engineering consultancy with direct operational ownership of the systems it designs. That means your work doesn't end at the drawing set — you'll see it run. Engineers here consistently say they develop faster than peers at traditional utilities or consultants.

Denver hybrid schedule, strong work-life balance, and a culture built around employee retention and satisfaction (recognized as a Top Workplace by The Denver Post).

What You Bring
  • BSEE from an accredited institution; PE license required
  • 8+ years in the electric utility industry with expert-level substation and distribution systems experience
  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams
  • Proficiency in ETAP or comparable power system analysis software
  • Strong technical communication and client-facing skills
Requirements
  • US citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance
  • Valid driver's license; 10-20% overnight travel
Compensation

$150,000–$185,000 base + Short-Term Incentive Plan + full benefits (medical, dental, 401k with company match)
