Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Industrial Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of complex electrical engineering projects within industrial facilities. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and serving as a subject matter expert while working within multidisciplinary project teams.

This position is a senior-level individual contributor role with no direct reports. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance, support project execution, and develop electrical engineering deliverables for industrial, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, power, and related facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for industrial facilities from concept through construction support.

  • Prepare and review:

    • Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems

    • One-line diagrams

    • MCC layouts and elementary diagrams

    • Area classifications

    • Grounding, lighting, and power plans

    • Cable schedules and conduit layouts

  • Perform electrical engineering calculations, including:

    • Load flow and demand calculations

    • Voltage drop calculations

    • Short-circuit studies

    • Conduit and cable tray sizing

    • Lighting calculations

  • Develop equipment specifications for switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, motors, and substations.

  • Coordinate with instrumentation, process, mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines.

  • Review vendor drawings, equipment submittals, and construction packages.

  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, tie-in verification, and startup support activities.

  • Develop construction packages, material take-offs, schedules, and engineering estimates.

  • Serve as the lead electrical engineer for assigned projects while coordinating with project managers and discipline leaders.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering and design personnel without direct supervisory responsibility.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 6+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience.

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

  • Experience with medium-voltage systems up to 15kV.

  • Experience developing electrical specifications, calculations, and construction packages for industrial facilities.

  • Ability to support projects independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.

  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, power, or heavy industrial environments.

  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems, including PLC, HMI, and DCS platforms.

Ideal Candidate
  • Deep technical expertise in industrial electrical engineering.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Comfortable leading technical aspects of projects without managing direct reports.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

  • Experience taking projects from concept development through startup and commissioning.

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove's total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.

Minimum Salary:$150,000 annually

Maximum Salary:$175,000 annually
