Job description

The Electrical Engineer will perform mid to high level complexity design and project management on a variety of projects acting as lead or support resource for prime and sub consultant work under the direction of client or Milhouse Engineering management. Typical design work includes low and medium voltage power distribution systems, motor control circuits, raceway systems, fire alarm systems, underground utility plans and profiles, interior and outdoor lighting systems, cathodic protection 

systems, panelboard and apparatus schedules and interfacing with utility companies.


What you will do:

  • Electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and acting as electrical engineer to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule
  • Keeps management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner 
  • Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claim documentation
  • Review and approve shop drawings and attend client meetings during the construction administration phase
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Ensures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule
  • Prepares project documents and reports and adheres to the project quality plan 
  • Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and fire alarm disciplines
  • Researches, develops, designs, specifies and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering
  • Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes
  • Develops designs within a BIM design environment
  • Develops, designs and specifies site electrical power, and equipment, components and materials
  • Develops, designs and specifies equipment, components and materials for all building electrical systems
  • Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards
  • Reporting safety, health, and quality issues to management
  • Support junior team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • Four-year technical degree from an ABET accredited institution 
  • 6-8 years of relevant electrical design experience 
  • Engineer In training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Certifications in LEED, lighting design, or similar certification preferred
  • Familiar with discipline specific design software and design management systems
  • Revit proficiency 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel as well as AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Knowledge of standard format specification development
