Electrical Engineer

Airbus DS Government Solutions, Inc. is an industry leader in satcom & networking systems. Airbus DS Government Solutions Inc, is searching for an Electrical Engineer who will participate in the design and testing of satellite communications systems, work tightly with project engineers and the engineering manager to drive innovative program and solutions, and complete engineering projects in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner. Position is based in Plano Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Design circuits and PCBs to support prototyping and production products
  • Work with third-party board suppliers to implement designs in varying quantities (tens to hundreds per year)
  • Provide engineering support for the development of satellite communications systems. This will include testing, system design, troubleshooting, documenting solutions and applying principles of electrical, physics and material science.
  • Troubleshoot design or fabrication problems with electrical and electromechanical systems, identify root cause of problems, and develop and implement creative and pragmatic solutions
  • Provide high level technical support to customers and other departments.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  • Produce technically sound designs which meet contract requirements, good engineering practices and solve the customerโ€™s needs and/or problems
  • Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art technologies and trends in software engineering and suggest product improvement ideas
  • Travel (up to 10%) may be required as needed, including both domestic and international

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from ABET-accredited program.
  • 2-10 years of design experience
  • Familiarity with analog and digital design layouts and strong schematic skills
  • Familiarity with design challenges up to 2 GHz
  • Ability to integrated third-party surface mounts components like microcontrollers, power components, ICs, or MMICs
  • Ability to test and debug hardware issues quickly
  • Experience with analog and digital oscilloscopes
  • U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency is required for this position to comply with federal government contract requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Best practice implementation for designs for reducing EMI/EMC
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-1275
  • Experience with RF circuit modeling and design up to 2 GHz (programs like AWR Microwave Office, Sonnet, Keysight ADS, etc)
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers and other RF test equipment
