Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised $1.5 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors including Thrive Capital, LightSpeed Venture Capital, SoftBank, and others to propel us forward. Our current prototype, Polaris, has reached record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius (13 keV). Helion is continuing to iterate and on the path to the world's first fusion power plant, Orion.
This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths - values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.
What You Will Be Doing:
As a Senior Engineering Technician at Helion, you will lead the build, integration, and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems that support our fusion generators and pulsed power architecture. You will drive execution across system builds while independently diagnosing issues and ensuring hardware meets performance, safety, and quality expectations.
You will operate at the interface of design engineering and production, translating evolving designs into executable builds by developing processes, tooling, and work instructions. Your work enables rapid hardware iteration, improves first-pass yield, and establishes repeatable, scalable build practices.
You will also elevate team capability by mentoring technicians, driving troubleshooting rigor, and reinforcing high standards of execution.
This is a hands-on role reporting to the Production Supervisor and working closely with Design Engineers, Test Engineers, and Production leadership. This is an onsite role located at our Everett, WA office.

  • Lead assembly, integration, and bring-up of complex electromechanical systems, including full-system builds
  • Independently diagnose electrical, mechanical, and system-level failures using schematics, instrumentation, and structured troubleshooting methods
  • Develop and standardize work instructions, build processes, and test procedures for repeatable execution
  • Partner closely with engineers during prototype development, supporting rapid iteration and real-time design changes
  • Design and fabricate fixtures, jigs, and test setups to improve build quality and efficiency
  • Drive root cause analysis on failures, implement corrective actions, and reduce recurrence of failures
  • Mentor technicians on troubleshooting, execution standards, and safe operating practices
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in build and test workflows and drive improvements
  • Uphold safety, quality, and execution standards in high-voltage and high-energy environments

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years hands-on experience building, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical or electromechanical systems
  • Strong diagnostic capability using schematics, instrumentation, and signal tracing
  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQ, etc.)
  • Experience working in prototype, R&D, or high-mix production environments
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex technical documentation at the bench
