Job description

SCOPE OF WORK:
The Project Engineer assists the Project Manager with job startup, issue and change resolution, and the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of one or more electrical construction projects. Works with the Project Manager, Project Administrator, and Shop Manager to ensure all budget, schedule, BoM, purchase orders, submittals, procurement, releases, RFIs, RFCOs, change orders, and closeout information is organized and communicated to Foremen.

REPORTS TO: Assigned Project Manager
LOCATION: This is an on-site position based in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Remote work is not available.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; or
  • Completion of an accredited electrical trade school program and a minimum of three (3) years of commercial electrical field experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer skills: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to learn and operate ProCore Project Management Software
  • Strong work ethic and adherence to company policies 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow Project Management processes and procedures
  • Understand contract requirements and project scope
  • Provide technical information for permitting
  • Update budget reports
  • Create schedule outline from budget with input from Project Manager and Superintendent
  • Assist with layout prep, coordination drawings, and basic CAD/Revit understanding
  • Create procurement schedule with PM and Superintendent
  • Review and verify Bills of Materials; coordinate with vendors
  • Create submittal log and schedule content
  • Identify commodity BoMs and obtain final quotes
  • Create and review submittal data
  • Release equipment based on schedule
  • Review invoices and assign job cost codes
  • Draft RFIs and RFCOs based on field/PM input
  • Implement change orders, cost coding, and verify purchases
