Job description

Project Engineer

Location: Arnold AFB, TN 37388 US (Primary)

Security Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe.

Pay Range: $112,000.00 – $172,000.00/yr

Position Introduction / Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking a Project Engineer who will help support the TOS II contract, at the Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, TN. The Project Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The individual hired for this position will be responsible for leading all Electrical design, implementation, and commissioning engineering activities associated with the implementation of a new test facility at Arnold AFB.

Key Duties:
  • Perform basic project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems.
  • Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors.
  • Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans.
  • Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these.
  • Responsible for the preparation, delivery and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
  • Lead development of technical area designs in support of the overall facility design.
  • Develop engineering specifications for the design and/or fabrication of engineered equipment.
  • Plan and ensure requisition of materials.
  • Ensure that designs meet requirements across self‑performed and subcontracted design efforts.
  • Provide inputs for development of cost and schedule for execution of assigned scope.
  • Develop design change packages initiated from construction requests for information.
  • Provide updates to project, engineering, and construction management teams.
  • Ensure the quality of engineering generated documents (drawings, specs, calcs).
  • Perform self-assessments withing assigned technical functional area.
  • Review and address trends coming from audits.
  • Perform or assign the review, verification and validation of new or updated software.
  • Ensure that team members are properly trained and qualified to perform design work and assign activities accordingly.
  • Develop talent in each assigned discipline area to their desired career outcomes and assign activities accordingly.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to complete a pre‑employment background check, breath alcohol test, and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • This is a sensitive/safety‑sensitive position and is subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • 8 or more years of work‑related experience.
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering field.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • 4 years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry including the performance of functional tasks on projects with a well‑developed understanding of procedures and interfaces.
  • Experience participating in risk assessments initiatives.
  • Previous successful performance in a project engineering position.
  • Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company’s needs.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, willingness to take on new work challenges; adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, accountability, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks.
